Beech Tree Walk Bridge east side; notice the deep stop groove.

The bridge is a brick built accommodation bridge, 33 miles 66 chains
from Reading. The track is continuation of Beech Tree Walk, which runs
south east from Bloxham Copse on the hillside to the north, crossing
road and railway, then canal towards Wilton Brail on the south side.
Many of the great beech trees are missing from the walk, but new trees
have been planted.

The westward side of the bridge; and it's raining.

Looking north from Beech Tree walk Bridge you can catch a glimpse of
the beech tree walk, some older larger trees are left; and notice the
tank traps.
|
|
We don't know what a 'brail' is; it is not mentioned in the Wiltshire
dialect dictionary that I have seen. The OED has the word as a noun to
do with tying things up and confining them.
|
|
The name Beech Grove used for this bridge seems to be a modern and
mistaken invention.
