Caen Hill Back Pumping Station on the south side of the canal just
westward of Lower Foxhangers Bridge.
There is a new pump to return water used through the Caen Hill locks
from below the bottom lock at Foxhangers to somewhere above the flight
- perhaps into Fifteen Mile Pound?
The pump building is brick built in a modern style, completely
acceptable as today's development of the canal as a working operation.
In contrast with their awful maintenance efforts of only a few years
ago, BWB do seem to get a lot of things right now.
The brickwork is stretcher bond, almost the only bonding used
nowadays! The intakes from the canal are protected by grills.
