England's Bridge
Stanton St Bernard, Wiltshire KAC46.66

KandAC mile 46
Curving brickwork over the hump, capped with stone and lichen; you can glimpse the Alton Barnes White Horse from here.
England's Bridge carries a track from Stanton St Bernard village into the fields.
The bridge is brick built; 46 miles 66 chains from Reading.
headroom 10ft9ins
depth of water 6ft0ins
There is a stop groove in the bridge, a slot into which stop planks to make a stank to dam the canal can be fitted; and the seating for stop gates which are no longer fitted.
Just another bridge; curves and shadows.
To the east side are the slot for stop planks, a stop groove, and the seating where there were stop gates which would automatically swing shut if there was a large flow of water - from the canal bursting its banks.
