a minor road from Wolfhall half a mile away on the south side to a
deer park on the north

The track south of the bridge leads to the remains of Wolfhall, a
tudor house, once the home of Sir John Seymour, Warden of Savernake
Forest, friend of Henry VIII. His daughter, Jane Seymour, married
Henry VIII. She died in childbirth; her son was Edward VI, 1547-53.
