The introduction is addressed to a future horn-rimmed historian (that's us!) and
desribes the phenomenom of th road house; there are two pages of vouchers for
reductions to charges - one used, which spoils the introductory text;
itineraries of suggested routes into London; a key map and six maps covering SE
England, a table of distances of road houses from towns; and a series of
descriptions illustrated with photographs, advertising the charms of the road
houses.

The only road house in Hampshire is The Venture, Basingstoke, which does not
have a descriptive advert.
