There is explanatory text printed centrally
In this Channell Draught, the smaller
Figures are the Depth in Fathoms. The Litteral or Roman Figures
shew ye Hour of High-Water, or rather ye End of the Stream that
setts to ye Eastward, on ye Day of ye New & Full Moon. Add
therefore ye time of the Moons Southing or Northing to ye Number
found near ye place where your. Ship is, & ye Sun shall show you
how long ye Tide will run to ye Eastward. But if it be more than
12 Subtract 12 therefrom. The Direction of ye Darts shew upon
what Point of ye Compass ye Strength of ye Tide sets. All Masters
of Ships and others, who shall have oppertunity to observe ye
Depths, with Certainty in respect of ye Place, are desired to
communicate them to ye Publisher hereof.
