These notes are strongly biased towards a Hampshire
interest.

There are several compass roses; North marked by a fleur de
lys, East by a cross. The chart is printed with North at the top
of the sheet.
There are rhumb lines drawn from the compass roses and other
points, in a circle of 16 centres.

Printed on both side borders is a scale of latitude; chequered
in minutes, labelled at 10 minute intervals. The chart includes
from 48d 10m to 51d 40m N. The coast of Bretagne, Normandie,
Picardie, France; the coast of southern England and Wales from
the Mumbles to the Thames Estuary, counties Cornwall, Devon,
Dorset, Hampshire, Sussex, Kent in England, and the Scilly
Isles.

Printed upper centre are four scale lines; dutch miles,
english and french leagues, spanish leagues, and 'suetsche'
miles. The english/french scale has:-

in thirds, ie nautical miles. The 24 leagues = 186.8 mm giving a
scale 1 to 714289 assuming a league of 3 nautical miles of 6080

The sea is plain, with depth soundings in fathoms, tidal
streams with arrows and times, sandbanks dotted, a few leading
