CATISFIELD in Fareham
The association with cats is late. The name is very difficult, but, if of Old English origin, may contain an early borrowing of Latin 'carta'='document, charter', the whole meaning 'open land of the charter', perhaps analogously to 'bocland' (on which see Kennedy 1985, Rumble 1987). Even so there would be much still to explain, eg the gender of the borrowed hypothetical element 'cart'. If the name is of the highest antiquity, it may contain a British/Primitive Welsh personal name allied to the first element of the name of the British queen 'Cartimandua' (unless her name contains a reduced form of hypothetical British 'carat-'='dear'). ('Cart' in the sense of 'wagon' is a borrowing from Danish and cannot be relevant here.)
