EAST ASTON, tithing(s) of Longparish
Either Old English 'eastan tune'='east of the farm', presumably MIDDLETON, or hypothetical 'Easttun'='east farm'. The place was later recorded as two tithings, 1329 'Esteston' and about 1450 'Westaston' both appearing in 1586 as 'Ashton'.
