Includes - a bishop's mitre refering to the connection of the Bishops of
Winchester with Bishopstoke, sheaves of corn symbolising agriculture, two narrow
black bands either side of the chequey fess represent railway lines, the checker
recalls that this was a manor held by Cahmberlains of the Royal Exchequer, a
winged wheel for progress and transport, a ship for shipbuilding and yatching at
hamble; the crest includes Hampshire roses and lilies of St mary to whom local
churches are dedicated, the naval crown commemorates naval connections.
