commentary: Downstream arch is gothic stone arch, built about 1190 by Bishop of Winchester, Godfrey de Lucy, to span the overflow from Alresford Pond. The parapet is 17th cnetury, brick. The round upstream arch is red brick, built when the road was widened, 1800s.
