The lock is 60 miles 35 chains from Reading.

Beside the lock is a stone cottage with tile roof. The style is like the house by Devizes Top Lock and at Semington Wharf - notice the string courses.
Lock house at Buckley's Lock; ashlar stonework in bath stone, and the string course at first floor level.
Having seen this style of string course on buildings all over Wiltshire I am not convinced it is a sign of a Kennet and Avon Canal building as is sometimes suggested.
The new bywash; the weir has a stop groove for planks to adjust the control of the canal level; the outflow is protected by a grill.
Tail bridge, iron and wood; notice the stop groove.
