Trees The greater forests are shown on Drayton's map of Hampshire. Each has a scantily clothed nymph carrying a hunting weapon; long bow and arrows, cross bow, or spear. In the song these are referred to as dryads; and a note says that dryads are the goddesses of oak trees. The forests included are:
