HANTSMAP INDEXING - KEYWORDS

NB: these are draft, working notes

HantsMap pages 'need' a general index; if only because we feel that any large resource should have access through an index as well as its planned navigation.

Index keywords are only allocated to pages that are displayed at '_top' level. We do not want the user to arrive at _top level in a frame that should be in a frameset. Wherever the user lands, the buttons on the page will make correct links into the rest of the site. We will not make index links to all pages, just to those which provide a useful route into the project.

This index does NOT include names for all places on maps, that is the function of the gazetteer page in a map's set of pages.

Pages that are to be indexed are described in records in a MODES database using the OBJECT Format. There is also a record describing the whole site, HantsMap.htm. This is what some people would refer to as meta data about the site. The index pages are generated by an output display spec from the database, WEBNDX1.lat, and loaded into the 26 A..Z sections.
