Parks on Jansson's map of Hampshire and Berkshire, 1646, are drawn by
a ring of fence palings, shaded to the right, which is to the north.
The park might enclose a settlement or house, and perhaps trees
which are tinted green. The park or house might be labelled.
Titchfield Park is a double park, with the northern part wooded.
Making a park, the formal procedure of emparkment, is a privelege
granted by the Crown. Many of the parks shown on early maps were
emparked in the 12th-14th centuries. Parks on Jansson's map are
listed below.
Parks, where possible, have been identified with a location, mostly
a park, on a modern map. The modern park name is a label to
